Anglia regions (early) October meeting was held at The Nene Valley Railway, where 20 members and two guests, Simon and Marie from the Central Region, had a wonderful day. The theme was 40s and mostly everyone dressed accordingly in some fantastic costumes, from furs to tweeds. There was a re-enactment of a battle with British and German soldiers capturing the station - this was very life like, after which we boarded the steam train taking us on a nostalgic trip to Peterborough. We picnicked on the train, and after having our documents inspected by Gestapo, we eventually returned back to a busy Wansford Station, which had various people dancing, singing and memorabilia on the platforms for us to walk round and see. We then all headed for our cars off to Ferry Meadows, where a lovely walk in the park followed by a very welcome ice cream.
Tea/coffee and oodles of cake followed at Joy and Barries home and our thanks again to them both for organising such a wonderful day out.
Novembers meeting - we are trying to organise a theatre trip to probably Norwich details will be available on our Anglia website shortly.
Decembers meeting - is Christmas lunch probably at The Grange Country House Hotel in Thurston, Nr. Bury St. Edmunds. Details will follow, after checking out the food! (Numbers will be required a.s.a.p. Can you please let me know if you are interested as I will have to make a booking. Cost about 17.50 per person for a 3 course lunch.

IMPORTANT - NOVEMBER MEETING - NORWICH

I passed around a list of Norwich show options for the November meeting; Broadway Hits, Oscar Wilde play or Motown.

Motown won seven votes to one on the day. Therefore, Even if the few people left to vote decided to go with another choice Motown would still win, sorry!

Thanks Joy and Barrie for organising a brilliant meeting and arranging the excellent weather that we enjoyed on the 40s steam day. The tea and cakes rounded off a perfect day.

Anglia Report September 6th 2009
A fantastic day out was had by 15 members of the Anglia Region at our September meeting. Lunch was in a quaint olde worlde restaurant in Neatishead, Norfolk. The food was served and presented in a very welcoming ambience. For the pudding connoisseurs there was great delight when the menu offered a mini selection of all the sweets on the menu and Thomas showed great restraint in only sampling other peoples desserts!
After lunch Thomas and Sharon had organised something quite different for us all with a private visit and tour of the RAF Air Defence Radar Museum at Neatishead and run purely by volunteers. This covered both the development of radar during the 2nd World War and a visit to the Cold War Operations Bunker. There was so much to see that after 2 hours 15 tired club members were to be found in the museums tea room having a welcome mug of tea and we all agreed that a future visit would have to be on the cards to appreciate the full extent of the exhibits. Our thanks go to Thomas and Sharon for an excellent day which was very well organised.
Next months meeting is in fact early being on Sunday 27th September at Nene Valley Railway picnic required theme The Fortys. So get your imagination working and try to come dressed appropriately (not obligatory). Joy and Barrie are organising this event and will be supplying further details on the website shortly. Otherwise contact Ali and Dave.
